It’s official: Dubai is getting a Vegas-style island with MGM, Bellagio and Aria hotels

Posted by admin on December 31, 2023

The construction contract for the islet, which will feature 1,400 hostel apartments, is the largest awarded in Dubai since 2017

The Island, a megaproject by Wasl off the seacoast of Jumeirah, is set to drink a triad of iconic Las Vegas hospices as MGM, Bellagio and Aria come the centre piece of this Vegas- inspired development.
First blazoned back in 2017, not much has been said about the development of The Island, located near to the Burj Al Arab, in recent times. still, according to Meed, inventor Wasl has awarded a contract for the construction of the islet, reconfirming that the design is still in the channel. As per Meed, Wasl has appointed China State Construction Engineering Corporation to make The Island, in an estimated USD1.2 billion( Dhs4.4 billion) deal. The deal is touted as the largest construction deal in Dubai since 2017.
At the time of advertisement six times agone , plans were unveiled for the3.5 million square metre development to come an MGM- operated hostel and entertainment quarter.
And in the rearmost MGM earnings call from November 8, 2023, farther details on what exactly to anticipate at The Island were revealed by MGM President and CEO, Bill Hornbuckle. attesting that the luxury development was ‘ under construction, ’ he further added that the islet would feature 1,400 hostel apartments from the MGM Grand, Bellagio and Aria brands.
For those strange, the three brands, all of which fall under the MGM marquee, are some of the biggest names in the Vegas hospitality scene.
Overlooking the iconic Las Vegas lake is the Mediterranean- inspired Bellagio, which features a endless Cirque du Soleil aqua show as well as a choreographed root show. The Aria is a more luxurious big family brand, and caters to savorers with a slew of high- end caffs like Catch, Jean- Georges Steakhouse, and Carbone. maybe the most notorious of them all is the MGM Grand, famed for its star- speckled events, celebrity appearances and sybaritic pool parties.
What about a summerhouse?
For now, there’s no sanctioned word on whether The Island will feature licensed gaming. It’s formerly been verified that Ras Al Khaimah’s forthcoming 1,500 room Wynn Resort, slated to open in 2027, will feature a summerhouse.
